They envisioned a pool large enough to accommodate swimming, relaxing, and entertaining, with plenty of space for everyone to gather and make memories. The Acclaim 12.00m in Shimmer White answered this brief perfectly – it’s clean lines, spacious design, and timeless appeal providing the ideal balance of form and function for an active and social lifestyle.

This stunning installation takes full advantage of the site’s sloping terrain. Instead of viewing the slope as a limitation it was transformed into a design opportunity. The layout respects the natural contours of the land while incorporating multiple distinct entertaining zones for dining, lounging and playing that flow naturally across the backyard.

Timber and block wall screening not only provides privacy and wind protection but also adds texture and contrast to the space. The raking fence follows the land’s natural slope effectively minimising its visual impact and allowing the pool area to feel spacious and connected rather than fenced off.

Several features set this project apart, including the custom-engineered steel framing for the pavilion while the custom steel-framed shade structure and changing nook add privacy and functionality, while the raised timber deck cleverly hides the pool cover system.

The raised timber deck consoles the pool cover and serves as a comfortable spot space for lounging, while turf around the pool area creates extra space for play and family activities. The glass pool barriers maintain clear sightlines, preserving an open feel throughout the outdoor environment, while strategic hedging enhances privacy and offers protection from the elements, creating a sanctuary for the family.

Each element was carefully selected to maximize comfort, safety, and aesthetics. This innovative approach demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a challenging site into a stunning, functional outdoor haven.

This project presented several logistical challenges, including limited site access via a narrow, single-lane driveway shared by multiple homes. Coordinating deliveries and construction required careful planning to avoid disruption to the neighbours. Materials were transported using a flat-deck truck, and a crane was deployed to lift and place the pool into position. These precise logistics were critical to keeping the project on track while considering the surrounding area.

From the initial design stages to the finishing touches, the NZ Pools team worked closely with the homeowners and trades to ensure the space reflected their ideal lifestyle and aspirations for space. This transparent and communicative process resulted in a project that reflects a personal journey for the homeowners and the enhancement of the property with the addition of a striking outdoor sanctuary.
